Tiled areas & consumption

For one dry bagged adhesive product, color and bag size. Enter the actual installed area without a tile-purchase waste allowance. Starting rates and coverage are examples, not product specifications.

Bag size & allowance

Use the bag size that matches the manufacturer’s coverage. Allowance is applied after base and additional application are added. Whole bags are rounded up once for all areas.

Starting bag mass and allowance are editable examples. Added water and liquid additives are outside this purchase calculation.

Bag cost

Starting price is an example. Currency changes its label only; no exchange-rate conversion. Grout, preparation, labor, tax and delivery are excluded.

How to use

  1. Add floor or wall zones receiving the same adhesive product. Enter each net area and quantity.
  2. For each zone, choose product consumption per area or coverage per bag. Enter figures matching the installation conditions.
  3. If additional application is needed, enable it and enter its separate rate. Then set bag mass, allowance and price.
  4. Review base application, additional application, allowance and whole-bag purchase mass.

Calculation method

Rate mode uses area × product consumption. Coverage mode derives consumption = bag mass / covered area per bag. An enabled additional rate is added per zone before allowance. Sum all base and additional masses, multiply by (1 + allowance / 100), then round up(required mass / bag mass). Cost is whole bags × bag price.

Worked example

For 12 m² at 4 kg/m², base mass is 48 kg. A 10% allowance makes 52.8 kg, requiring 3 bags of 25 kg. At 20 USD per bag the cost is 60 USD. Coverage of 6.25 m² per 25 kg bag gives the same rate. Adding 0.5 kg/m² contributes 6 kg before allowance; the purchase remains 3 bags.

Assumptions and limits

The tool does not choose a trowel notch, adhesive type, bed thickness or installation method. Coverage varies with substrate, tile back, trowel use and required contact. Additional application is user-supplied and must not duplicate coverage already included in the product figure. Grout, waterproofing, primers, labor, delivery and tax are excluded.

Units, prices and saved estimates

Physical values are stored internally in metres, square metres, cubic metres or kilograms as appropriate. Changing measurement units converts their display; choosing a currency changes its label without applying an exchange rate. Purchase quantities use unrounded calculations. Money is shown to two decimal places.
