How to use
- Add rectangular, circular or known-area zones. Give each zone its own required thickness.
- Choose a consumption rate or a bag coverage figure at a stated reference depth. Use data for the selected compound.
- Enter allowance, bag mass, bag price and optional work cost per net area.
- Check weighted average depth, required mass and whole-bag purchase quantity.
Calculation method
Each zone contributes area × depth × quantity to volume. Rate mode multiplies that volume by the entered mass-per-volume consumption. A displayed metric rate in kg/m²/mm is converted to kg/m³ internally. Coverage mode derives consumption = bag mass / (coverage area × reference depth). Required mass is the sum of zone masses with the allowance applied, rounded up to whole bags. Average depth = total volume / total area.
Worked example
For 4 × 3 m at 5 mm and 1.6 kg/m²/mm, base mass is 96 kg. With 10% extra, 105.6 kg needs 5 bags of 25 kg. At 25 USD per bag the material cost is 125 USD. Adding 8 m² at 10 mm produces 224 kg before allowance, an average depth of 7 mm and 10 bags. Work at 10 USD/m² makes the combined total 450 USD.
Assumptions and limits
The model assumes consumption proportional to depth within the product’s permitted range. It does not survey a floor, choose a product, assess substrate suitability or determine structural loading. Primers, aggregate additions, repairs, dams, drying conditions, tax and delivery are excluded. Verify minimum and maximum application thickness in the product instructions.
Units, prices and saved estimates
Physical values are stored internally in metres, square metres, cubic metres or kilograms as appropriate. Changing measurement units converts their display; choosing a currency changes its label without applying an exchange rate. Purchase quantities use unrounded calculations. Money is shown to two decimal places.
