How to use

Choose a salary-based or hourly offer, enter the quoted base pay and describe its weekly hours, workdays and scheduled weeks. Add paid leave and unpaid days without counting overlapping time twice. Optionally enable a second offer to compare different schedules on the same page.

For salary, choose whether the quoted amount already reflects unpaid time or should be reduced proportionally from a full-schedule amount. Use the option matching the figure you actually have. The calculator does not infer an employer’s payroll policy.

Calculation method

Scheduled workdays = weeks × workdays per week. Average daily hours = weekly hours / workdays per week. Paid hours exclude unpaid days; actually worked hours also exclude paid leave. Hourly annual pay equals the entered hourly rate × paid hours.

For salary, Keep quoted salary retains the entered annual equivalent. Proportional reduction scales it by paid days / scheduled days. Hourly equivalents divide annual pay by paid hours or actual worked hours as labeled. Average monthly, twice-monthly, biweekly and weekly figures use divisors 12, 24, 26 and 52.

Worked example

Annual pay 52,000 with 40 hours per week, five days and 52 weeks gives 2,080 hours and 25 per hour. Adding ten paid leave days leaves 2,080 paid hours but reduces worked hours to 2,000, giving 26 per actual worked hour.

Ten unpaid days instead leave 2,000 paid hours. With proportional salary reduction, annual pay becomes 50,000 and the paid-hour equivalent remains 25. Keeping an already-adjusted 52,000 quote gives 26 per paid hour.

Interpretation and limits

These are gross base-pay equivalents before taxes, benefits, bonuses and overtime. Fifty-two weeks is an editable model assumption, not a precise pay-date calendar. Average weekly pay still divides by 52; per scheduled week uses your schedule separately. If no actually worked hours remain after paid leave, the corresponding hourly equivalent is undefined rather than zero.

Use the pay raise calculator for a change at one schedule, and the work hours calculator for a weekly timesheet.
